RL Osborn Fullpipe Air
So many nice shots from the first Freestylin' "Book" BMX Action produced. Would love to be able to go back and ride some of those old California skateparks. RL Osborn riding a fullpipe in one of the many cement parks. Not sure which one this is, if anyone has an idea let me know. View more here: http://oldschoolmags.com/mags/Book_Freestylin_Weed.pdf

BMX Action--July 1984--Mongoose Pro Class Test
This test is the reason I learned 360s. Love that opening shot of Eric Rupe dive bombing down into that wall. Great photo! View more at this link: http://oldschoolmags.com/mags/BMXA_8407.pdf

JT Racing -- Bone To Be Wild
Working on a post for the January 1988 issue of Freestylin' and I just couldn't figure how JT Racing thought this could be a good idea.

BMX Action--March 1984
At the time I had no idea about NBL racing, San Antonio had only two ABA tracks and I am not even sure where a NBL track was located in Texas, and to tell the truth, I still don't. Great Brent Patterson shot.
What was the difference between the #1f on Rod Fehd's plate and the #1 on D.D. Leone's plate? I am actually wishing they would have had one of those drawings of this tracks layout. From what they showed it looked really good.
Here is the top side view of the cover shot. I actually think I like the cover shot better. Well, minus the free prizes of course.

Cult Goods. Did the band The Cult ever get back together? Or did they never really break up?

BMX Action--January 1984 Part Four
And here we go! Finishing up this weeks BMX Action January 1984 post with part four. This issue is so full of great photos and race coverage, it is an actual magazine I would like to have a copy of. And there is saying something of that Greg Hill "tuck" photo, such a true classic.

BMX Action--September 1983--Part 2
And here is part two of yesterday's post BMX Action september 1983.
Hahaha, we broke out so many spokes trying to do that rear tire slap. Buff and R.L. were always doing something cool.
So after R.L. switched out most of the bike to try and fit on the Mongoose expert, it was still way too small for him. It actually looks tiny under him in that photo.
NBL Bakersfield coverage and a Hank Williams reference, Good stuff! Stoked to see more of the cruiser class getting coverage. Bubba Hayes killing on hIs SE like he always seemed to be doing.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream

BMX Action--September 1983
Another great first straight photo with Stu Thompson and Brian Patterson fighting for the lead into the first turn. Now if Stu wouldn't have blown out his back tire in the first turn, he probably would have held off Brian.
This photo is one of the all time best to come out of BMX Action. Scott Clark and R.L. Osborn buns up over a set of triples in Centennial Park. Nose down into the landed, best feeling ever!

BMX Action -- November 1983
Great coverage form the NBL War Of The Stars race in Conroe, Texas. The picture of Rob Fehd flying over a set of doubles is such a nice shot. This also happens to be the track that the McDonalds BMX commercial was filmed at.
Scott Clark leading the Pro cruiser class. Nice to see so much 24" race coverage. Pretty surprising to see the Gatorade sports bottle getting a nod though. I am guess sports bottles weren't the rage yet. Wait. Were they ever the rage?
There is one thing that is a guaranty with these older issues of BMX Action, Mike Buff would have some kind of stylish shot. And this opening spread to the CW racing 24" Pro Racer is another fine example of that. Airing it out over the Trick Team quarter pipe.
