Bicycle Drag Races

I am actually so stoked about this. I have to get me one of those parachutes for my bike. What was that they were using to measure their speed? A Geiger counter?

Charlie Chaplin's Time Traveler

Saw this posted on Twitter this morning. The guy has a good find there, but I am not buying the time traveler explanation. More than likely someone with a sore ear ranting about it to them self.

I have seen this a few times. Almost forgot it was Tom Baker narrating. Maybe Ronald Mallett finally got that time machine of his up and running. He might want to enlist Tom's help on tat project.

How did this not catch on?

These things need to make a comeback.

King of the Skateparks [VHS]

Riding in my hood.

Took a quick(long) ride last night to get my Night Rider battery pack to lose charge. Trying to improve the memory of that thing, but I think it might be a lost cause. As long as I still get two days worth off of one charge, I will be happy. Here are few pictures from last night.

My bike found it's self lost in a field for a little bit as I looked for a Geocache about a mile from our house.

Easy find. Thank goodness someone had just mowed the field that this was located in. I would not have even tried to go after it. Snakes scare me.

Rode over to Ed Clark's Christmas house to see if the lights were on. It was a no go. Hopefully soon he gets it lit back up. Apparently there is supposed to be a geocache there but I think it is long gone.

Need your car washed? Need gas? Need Gas? This little taco truck in the HEB parking lot off O'Conner and Nacogdoches has you cover. Man, whatever they were cooking, it sure smelled good. I need to try it out sometime.

BMX Plus---August 1984

BMX Plus always had a way of cramming as much as they could onto their covers. Also, their use of the color spectrum has always been over the top. But there is no beating those grabbing cover tag lines like "Kuwahara's World Champ Laser: Can it Zap You To The Top?" Classic Plus.

There is just something that is so perfect about that chrome Kuwahara Laser Lite. The set up that Gary Ellis is running in that shot are the perfect combination of chrome and gold. Great set up. And when did Kuwahara change it from the "Lazer" to the "Laser"?

I remember walking something like 6 miles after middle school to our local bike shop and being absolutely blown away by one of these Quadangles. Such an awesome frame and one of the all time classics.

The race coverage was always something that seemed to be a little lacking in some of the issues of Plus. Not sure why, but they seemed to prefer more of the smaller black and white shots over the full page color shots. But every once and a while they would have some really great full page photos. Like this shot of Steve Veltman holding a tight inside line at the Lumberjack Nationals.

This seemed to be more in tuned with how they laid out their race coverage. Still some great photography though. And look at that shot of Patterson racer Cody Smart  checking to see how close he is to that tire.

When this issue showed up in our mail box I did the same thing that I always did. Ran inside and read it over end to end. And after seeing this picture of Woody Itson sitting on his handle bars like that I ran out and tried to figure out how to do it. My neighbors must have thought I was crazy. I might have been, but I don't think I ever figured out how to do that trick.

A New Hope Trailer

The original trailer for StarWars A New Hope is somewhat a thing of epicness. Love seeing the clips without their finished special effects. And hearing David Prowse grunt as he tosses the Rebel against the wall.Classic stuff. And from the looks of it, they might have been lucky this film kicked the crap out of Annie Hall.

Here are a collection of bloopers from films IV, V and VI. Lando is the man!

Cars 2 sneak peak.

Having watched Cars about 500 time in the last 2 or 3 years. I have to say it is a pretty good movie. Somewhat excited to see this trailer. Looking forward to seeing it in the theater.

Freestyle Pros of 1983

After having really good response from the BMX Action post on Monday, I decided to upload a little more of it's contents. Seeing as it is such a good issue, I might as well get some the the freestyle guys covered.

Somewhere in Joe Kid on a Sting Ray Gork was talking about how the Haro team was the business guys, and BMX Action were the preps, and MF were the working guys. I think I liked the BMX Action team better as the surfer dudes. Nice tie Bob.

Eddie Fiola and Bob Morales. I always wanted one of those MF team jerseys. I still to this day think about that awesome cover shot of Fiola riding the Vans half pipe. So rad!

Pat Romano and Mike Buff. Fixed gear dorks take note. It has been around for ever. And what do you know? Buff jumping over a car. No big surprise there. Buff rules.

RL Osborn and Bob Haro. They would put the formed team mates right next to each other. These guys were smooth.

And last but not least, Ron Wilton. I guess this is the point where that kick turn became known as the Wilton.
